Our Mission is to passionately and enthusiastically carry a message of strength and hope to anyone affected by the disease of addiction.
How We Got Our Start
In October 2015, Matt Bell was in detox and decided that he HAD to do something different. On October 17th, 2015, just a few days clean and sober, he named the organization • Team Recovery, made a commitment, and began having late-night meetings with some other teammates to discuss their grand plans for what they thought their community needed. After experiencing treatment in Northwest Ohio over and over, they noticed a lot of significant gaps in the services that were offered. Therefore, they began to plan how they would fill those gaps. They put pen to paper, and put their boots on the ground. Their philosophy of “a new approach to an old problem” was born, and the spark of their grassroots agenda turned into a flame. None of them knew at the time that that flame would turn into a wildfire that their city desperately needs. The mission that Team Recovery is carrying out is so important that the city of Toledo’s mayor has officially declared October 17th as “Team Recovery Day” in Toledo each year. Team Recovery’s goals have shifted and evolved to continue to meet the needs of their community, but their philosophy has always remained the same…

How is our mission meaningful to you?
As the founder of this organization, it means the world to know that our mission has not changed, regardless of our growth and expansion, since day one.
What inspires you?
My family inspires me because I’ll do anything to take care of them! My colleagues inspire me because I know a lot of people are relying on me. My career inspires me because there is so much work that still needs to be done in our community.
Who is a hero of yours?
My father. He was the best man I ever knew.
What would your message be to someone that is struggling to stay sober?
I’d ask the question… if drinking or using drugs is your answer, what is your question? Change your attitude and you’ll change your life.
What would your message be to a family member or a loved one affected by addiction?
Tough love is the best thing you could learn how to do. Come to our FAAD meetings and learn how to support your loved one into treatment, and learn what appropriate support is when they’re in treatment.

How is our mission meaningful to you?
Resources & education are the two most important part of the recovery process in my opinion. One attacks the disease from the beginning of its journey, and one restores us after it’s taken hold. Team Recovery offers vital resources & education to its community where it’s needed most.
